National Nursing Home Week will be celebrated in nursing and rehabilitation facilities nationwide. This year’s theme was selected by American Health Care Association (AHCA) and will honor those who are “Enriching Every Day” for others, thus adding value to life and overcoming many of the infirmities of age and disability.
It isn’t easy to come up with creative nursing home ideas for Nursing Home week. A leading Atlanta Nursing Home, however, had more than enough great nursing home appreciation ideas to fill an entire week of events and celebrations. The week-long celebration had a different activity each day to recognize the residents and staff, and thank them for their contributions. The week filled with nursing home appreciation ideas and events was a big hit with residents, staff, and family. Here’s how the nursing home’s calendar filled up with nursing home appreciation ideas during Nursing Home Week:
Kick-off event! Appreciation goodie bags with snacks given to all residents and staff.(They loved it!)
B-I-N-G-O Party!
Arts and Crafts – Stamping, Painting, Pottery, Wax Hands, Caricature Artist, make yourown Greeting Cards.
Casino and other great Card Games.
Grillin’ and Chillin’ – Have a cookout with family and friends. Hamburgers,Hotdogs, Chips…the works!
Nursing Home Idol in the Cafeteria! Essential Trophies are given to bestperformers wrapping up the week of celebration and thanks.
Popcorn Night, Valentine’s Celebration, Kissing Booth, Chocolate Fountain,Shortcake Station, Tents, Tables, and Chair Rentals for Family Day, Public Address Systems,
Picnic for the entire Nursing Home Residents, Staff and their Families.
